State of the System 2005, a digest of data on the performance of the region’s transportation network and facilities produced annually by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and Caltrans District 4. In addition to safety statistics and the 2004 freeway congestion data (which was released by MTC and Caltrans in September 2005), the State of the System 2005 report features previously unreleased data about pavement conditions, transit ridership and reliability, measures of air travel and goods movement, and much more.
If you think your ride to work is bumpy today,
just wait: Over the next 20 years, the San Francisco Bay Area is
projected to run short of funding for its local streets and roads
to the tune of $5.6 billion, with $2.3 billion of this amount specifically
shortchanging pavement upkeep and repair.
This report covers the 2003-04 highlights for regional operations and technical assistance projects overseen by MTC. Projects include the Pavement Management Technical Assistance Program, TransLink ® universal transit fare payment system, the FasTrak™ electronic toll collection system, the 511 Traveler Information Program the Call Box Program, the Freeway Service Patrol, Signal Timing and Traffic Engineering).
