Before you begin calculating PCI from maintenance treatments: you must perform
maintenance treatments on a road section and update the section record in the
Maintenance/Rehabilitation
New M&R
tab. The Calculations screen allows you to perform calculation from
maintenance treatments. The Calculations screen is shown below.
To calculate PCI from maintenance treatments:
|
1.
|
Open the Calculations screen and click on the PCI From Maintenance
Treatments radio button in the Calculation Type section.
You have three calculations options:
Treatment Date
- When the Treatment Date radio button is clicked, a pull-down menu appears.
Select an treatment date from the list; only one date can be selected.
Select Management Section
- When the Select Management Section radio button is clicked, all of the
management sections that have had records updated since the last calculations
were made, become visible in a grid. Select a management section from the list by
clicking in the box to the left of a management section. You can select
multiple management sections by holding the <Ctrl> button as you click in
the boxes to the left of the desired management sections. This grid is illustrated below.
All Management Sections
- When the All Management Sections radio button is clicked, the number of
management sections that have had records updated since the last calculations
were made, is displayed.

- The PCI is calculated.
- The existing PCI information is moved to the PCI History file.
- The current PCI information is replaced with the PCI from the maintenance treatment.
- The PCI Date is set to the treatment date.
- The PCI value is set to 100 if the treatment was an overlay or reconstruction, otherwise
it is set to an increased value based on the PCI increase factors.
- The Visual PCI is not checked.
- PCI Hi and PCI Low are set to zero.
- PCI High - Low > 25 and Special Unit are not checked.
- # of Inspection Units is set to 1.
- % Load Related is set to 100.
- % Environment and % Other are set to zero.
- No Extrapolated Distress data is displayed.

If the treatment is a reconstruction, the Date Constructed is set
to the date of treatment and the surface type changes as follows:
a. If the treatment is a Reconstruct
as PCC (RP) then the surface type is PCC.
b. If the treatment is a Reconstruct as
ST (RS) then the surface type is ST.
c. If the treatment is a Reconstruct as
Gravel (RG) then the surface type is Gravel.
d. If the treatment is a Reconstruct as
AC (RA) then the surface type is AC.
|
| 3.
|
If the treatment is an overlay, the date of construction is set to
the date of the treatment and the surface type changes as follows:
a. the surface
type is AC then the surface type changes to AC/AC
b. If the surface
type is PCC then the surface type changes to AC/PCC
c. If the surface
type is ST then the surface type changes to AC
d. If the surface
type is AC/AC or AC/PCC then the surface type doesn't change.
e. If the treatment
is Overlay with PCC then the surface type changes to PCC.
|
| 4.
|
If the treatment is a surface seal applied to a pavement with a surface type of surface treatment (ST), the Date Constructed is set to the date of treatment and the Surface Type remains ST.
|
| 5.
|
If it is another maintenance treatment of a surface seal applied to a pavement type other that St, the Date Constructed and Surface Type are not changed.
