2011 Winter User Week: November 28 through December 1

User Week is a combination of activities intended to act as a forum for StreetSaver® users to learn about new technologies, discuss implementation issues, and receive updates on the status of the Regional Streets and Roads Program. The 2011 Winter User Week workshops are scheduled for November 28 through December 1. Information for each event is included below.

Workshops do fill-up quickly so please R.S.V.P. right away (but no later than Wednesday, November 23, 2011) to Kimberly Hughes via e-mail at khughe@mtc.ca.gov.  Please reference "2011 Winter User Week Registration" in the subject line and specify the event name in the body of your email.

Technology Transfer Workshop: Sustainable Pavement Technologies

Overview: Blair Barnhardt, an award winning Certified National Highway Institute Trainer with FHWA, and a National LTAP Instructor will provide a broad overview class on in place asphalt recycling techniques.  Specifically Cold In Place (CIR) and Hot in Place (HIR) will be covered along with a brief overview of the Full Depth Reclamation Process (FDR).  Case studies and recent eco efficiency reports of the CIR/HIR processes will also be covered.

Class size is limited to 50 people . Reservations required.


PMP Awards Luncheon and General Meeting: StreetSaver ® Software Update

Overview: The Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Pavement Management Program will be hosting a complimentary lunch following the Technology Transfer workshop, so stick around and enjoy mingling with your jurisdictional colleagues.

The Awards Ceremony will begin after lunch, at the start of the General Users Meeting.

Workshop I: Pavement Distress Survey

Instructor(s): Dr. Roger Smith, Texas A&M

Overview: The goal of this course is to provide skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Identify seven pavement distresses collected/entered into the MTC StreetSaver® software
  • Identify inspection units used for pavement inspections
  • Learn techniques to ensure quality inspections of pavements
  • Perform actual surveys of an AC pavement section
  • Calculate the PCI for an inspection unit
Required materials: Please bring a safety vest, measuring wheel, calculator, clipboard, and your Pavement Condition Index Distress Identification Manual for Asphalt and Surface Treatment Pavements (small flip book you received with the software).

Class size is limited to 30 people (2 people/consultant). Reservations required.


Workshop II: Computer Training - StreetSaver ® Online v9.0 Basic Computer Skills Workshop
