Held three times a year, User Week is
intended to act as a forum for PMP users to learn about new technologies,
discuss implementation issues, and receive updates on the status
of the program. Below is a list of meetings, seminars, and workshops
scheduled for March 17 - 20, 2008. Sessions with limited space
are identified with an asterisk (*). There are no fees for the classes detailed below.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has assigned to Caltrans the federal role in environmental compliance for transportation projects. This workshop will provide an overview of federal environmental laws and the changes in procedures resulting from this “NEPA Delegation,” as well as hands-on instruction in the procedures for a typical pavement project.

The Local Streets and Roads Working Group (LS&R WG) Subcommittee will discuss using preventive maintenance as a performance measure as part of the funding allocation formula.

The goal of this course is to provide skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Identify seven pavement distresses collected/entered into the MTC PMS software
- Identify inspection units used for pavement inspections
- Learn techniques to ensure quality inspections of pavements
- Perform actual surveys of an AC pavement section
- Calculate the PCI for an inspection unit
- Required materials: Please bring a safety vest, measuring wheel, calculator, clipboard, and your Pavement Condition Index Distress Identification Manual for Asphalt and Surface Treatment Pavements (small flip book you received with the software).

A pavement management system is a decision support tool designed to help engineers, roads superintendents and public works directors make cost-effective decisions concerning the maintenance and rehabilitation of pavements and road surfaces. The purpose of this workshop is to help MTC PMS users understand the components of the database structure in the Custom Report Wizard so that they can utilize the feature to build custom queries and reports. Users will receive an overview of the Custom Report Wizard, step-by-step instructions on its usage, and in-class practice with examples.
